︎ Typographic Poster
︎ Research-Based Design
︎ Analog + Digital Process
For my Typography Final, I was assigned to research the designer Neville Brody and generate work based on based on a typeface of his (with requirements such as displaying the full alphabet, an enlarged letter, etc.).
FF Blur is a typeface rooted in the 1970s punk scene, drawing inspiration from the degradation caused by copying and recopying on a Xerox. Intrigued by its analog origins, I pay homage to this “organic” process of degeneration by printing my design layer by layer on vellum, then scanning it in for retouch and additional elements. Finally, the poster is enlarged and printed on paper.
The design itself is kept to be as minimal as possible, allowing the imperfection that arises from the digital-analog interaction to take centre stage.

︎ Iterative Design Project
︎ Final outcome: Poster
Explored the materiality of the assigned object, a brown paper bag by generating iterations of abstract elements and typesetting using both digital and analog processes.
Synthesized existing type and imagery by designing multiple compositions.
Created a final poster informed by previous experimentation.
Exhibited in the RISD GD Commons for one week.

︎ Textural Experimentation
︎ Digital “Hand Lettering”
Typographic poster based on a question that haunted me in the dead of night.
Created in a single 3-hour stint in Photoshop. All letters “hand-drawn” using the rectangular marquee.
